Some Random Week 7 Thoughts

[A special thanks to my friend L'O.M., who always has good insight, as I have excerpted some of our YFF banter.]

Some interesting players with decent match-ups: Yakubu (MID) vs. Sheffield...Johnson (EVE) vs Man City...McCarthy(BLA) vs Wigan [I also like Nonda here, especially if you got him at pre-update price]...Even King (WAT) vs. Fulham is a possibility, though I think Fulham will be tougher than expected.

It's hard to ignore Ronaldo with this current scorching form, and Fabregas will get a hard look for squad. Rosicky at may be too cheap to sell. Is MGP going to have a stormer versus Wigan?? A bit of an expensive risk at the current cost. That might put Bentley in the frame...

Looks like Gallas is injured and so is Djourou - but check Friday previews to confirm the severity. Does Eboue/Hoyte/Toure become better options?? Hoyte, at 5.06, has some appeal a cheapie with a CS chance, and Everton defenders interest me.

In goal, I think Lehmann has a very good clean sheet opportunity, though his price tag is tough to budget in, especially if you endeavor to keep Henry and/or Ronaldo or some other more costly players. My 2nd favourite keeper pick is Howard (combo of match-up & price). But one other GK getting some serious consideration from me right now is Foster of WAT - his 8.50 price tag is very appealing and permits some roster moves.

    Two questions:

    1) What Saha's status? He looked fine in Tuesday's CL game but did he re-aggravate the hamstring injury??

    2) What are your thought on Yakubu or Viduka, playing against a very week Sheffield Utd defence??

I've heard nothing at all about Saha being injured or aggravating his hammy.

I'd go with Yak over Viduka, who has not been a regular starter this season, as Boro have gone 4-5-1 often. Good match-up for sure, but their form is awful. Yak is usually dangerous and is due to score. I would however prefer a home striker like AJ in that price range.

BTW - I'm sure you've heard that Henry has a great record against Charlton - 11 goals in 11 games. I'm sticking with Thierry ;)

I've made the contraverial decision to drop Henry!

    Forwards: Johnson, Saha, Nonda
    Midfielders: Ronaldo, Arteta, Fabregas, Rosicky
    Defenders: Eboue, Lescott, Cole
    Keeper: Howard

Though I'm maybe trying to accomodate Yakubu in my line-up.

    Contraversial indeed!!

I don't think you need both Rosy & Fab in your line-up, given that it's an away game. But it looks great! I wish I could afford AJ this week :(

You're missing out on Phabulous Phil Neville, LOL

I think Neville should be put on the tip sheet!

The reason I've keep Rosicky is at 5.6 he's cheap also Arsenal will probably play a 4-5-1 with Fabregas and Rosicky moving up through the middle to support Henry. Also, Charlton's midfield is very poor and I foresee Rosicky getting a few cracks from distance (hoping they hit the net!)

Also, best of luck to you as well tomorrow am. Perhaps Derek, Graham, yourself and Chris, Rick and myself could get together for breakfast and watch the EPL after our games. I'll give you a call once were done.

Cool! We're at Fallowfield park. BTW - Andy is doing your game.

Looks like I'm back to Foster as GK...
