Here are a few of what I consider to be "sleeper" picks. Perhaps something a little less popular among YFF rosters in week 1; something that may yield a few extra points that could differentiate teams. Some of these selections are new and/or unproven in the Premiership, so there's no guarantee that they'll settle right away and perform, but risk/reward and all that....

Benni McCarthy - international, proven scorer, looked good in preseason.
Leroy Lita
Bobby Convey
Steve Sidwell
Kevin Nolan
Leon Osman - cheaper good option to Cahill/Arteta.
Darren Bent - trying to prove he belongs on the England squad.
Stevie Gerrard - only one game, but against promoted Sheffield could mean big points.
Robin Van Persie - same as above, with that one match being at home to Villa.
